2 skimmers vs 1 skimmer

so im in the process of setting up my 75 again and am upgrading equipment total water volume will be about 130-150 gallons. i have 2 coralife 65 g skimmers currently would both of these skimmers be better than 1 larger skimmer.

i dont really care for them much but they have always worked greatand by using these i could save up 500 in the next 6-8 months to get an aweome skimmer.

my question is both these together have about 700gph of water running through them and i have seen akimmers that put out much close to that (they seem to all be about 3-500gph.

i hate that they run off of rio 1100s and have had 2 of these pumps go out while the tank previously ran for a few years but even that the pumps are only like 25$ to replace.

i would really like a reef octo extreme for a 250 gal tank (would be way oversixed but i figure that cant hurt) the pumps for these are wicked expensive though the cheapest i have found is like 175$

thoughts anyone

I run a skimmer that is rated for twice my tank volume.

most of the time one skimmer will outproduce the other, better IMO to run one sizeable skimmer.
