Can I add Nassarius Snails?

On thursday I just added my first fish to my 65 g FOWLR tank. It is a SMALL Ocellaris clownfish and I feed him about 1/4 of a block of Mysis shrimp once a day. He eats a few pieces but a bunch still get away. So if I had mabe 4 or so Nassarius " Zombie" Snails, will they be able to survive alright?

Four snails should be ok.

Please don't bump a mere 30 minute old thread though, friend. It's considered impolite.

Feed him less. That's too much for one small Clown to eat....if he's not eating everything you put in, feed less.
Since I only have two fish right now...best method I found is to use a sharp knife and just scrape shavings off the frozen square, then put a little bit in the tank at a time so they have time to grab it all before adding more.
Less waste, less debris to pollute your tank

You may have to feed the snails extra because your sandbed is too young to support them fulltime. If they are large snails, go for two. If smallish, maybe 3.

If you want to go another step, you could hand feed them with a syringe (usually available as child medication dispensers). I took a shaving like Janalta, put it in a shrimp net (very fine, cost a couple bucks), thawed with RO/DI water (rinses their crappy water away), then flipped the net inside out and dipped it in a bowl of tank water (<10 ml). Draw the food into the syringe then give it a little squirt in the tank and your fish will come right for it. You can dispense it in very small, controlled amounts. This has worked for my clowns, dwarf angel and cleaner shrimp. My wrasse and royal gramma will have nothing to do with it.

GL and have fun

edit: good choice regarding the nassarius. mine burst up out of the sand like something from Dune when I feed. i'm assuming they quickly find anything that reaches the substrate. i'm a huge fan of the tonga (larger) nassarius, but that might just be because i see them more than my small ones.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I ended up buying 2 nassarius. I guess they are fairly big..maybe 3/4" long. And I bought 5 blue legged hermit crabs, very very small.

While blue legged hermits stay small, they do grow enough to make use of the large Nassarius shells. Keep an eye on them - they will eventually kill the snails and take their shells for new homes. You can decrease the chances by providing them with larger shells, but it's not a guarantee.
