Florida inspired reef
I was wondering with the vast differences in what one likes has anyone ever done a reef tank based solely on the FL keys?
I am picking up a 48x24x12 tank Monday....and I want to do something different with it....I am also working on a 75g that will be a heavy SPS tank....also working on a 40 breeder lps and softie....and last a 40 breeder species tank. yes I am addicted...lol it has been almost 2 years since I have had an up and running tank.....and I'm coming back with a VENGENCE....lol

In for the replies. One of my best friends lives in Melbourne FL and is going to be setting up a 125 soon. I will have to tell him about this thread.

Check out Tampa Bay Saltwater on the sponsor forums. Quite a few people that post there have FL biotopes set up.

Back in the 80's I set up several tanks with nothing but Florida Key's livestock. Then I got busted collecting stuff I really shouldn't have been collecting. I was young and stupid. What can I say?

I take it you plan on having Elkhorn & Staghorn acro's, ricordeas, brains and the like?....
if so I say great idea; although it won't be one of those almost gaudy cartoon looking purple & yellow over acro stocked TOTM type deals (with the standard cliche' "2 islands of rock") but from a eco pov I think the concept is great!!! Folowing.... |

I want some of that Tampa bay LR so bad, but I'm scared I'll be fighting crabs and all kinds of unwanted pests for months. The rock is beautiful though..
