Angel owners! help us out here!
---got a report of a queen angel ignoring 'leathers, shrooms, and rics, while noshing on polyps.'
Anybody got any species-specific experience with angels? A lot of owners would like to have some corals, but don't want to feed their angels spendy specimens. I for instance in a prior reef had no trouble with plain brown buttons and red and green discosoma mushrooms, yellow star polyps and an unidentified pink encrusting leather with a coral beauty and a lemonpeel with no predation at all. Recognizing that angels are high enough up the intellectual totem pole to have individual tastes (ie, one coral beauty will and one coral beauty won't) I'd like to collect various experiences.

the only things to be eaten in my tank are lobophyllia, scollies and trachyphyllia. And the lobo only because it was on the way out anyway, had survived for 6 months with no predation. My clam gets occationally picked at by the majestic but all other corals(rics, acro, hammer, torch, anemone) are left alone. I have kept the following in this reef setting (none long term though); majestic, eiblii and coral beauty.

We have a majestic and so far has been a model citizen but we got him from a local reefer who had him in a mixed reef so he was somewhat of a known quantity.

I've never had anything bother the 'smellier' softies, the ones that leave your hands a little odorific...like xenias, green star and yellow star polyps. And never had anything bother discosoma mushrooms---all of these are tough enough to survive a cycle (did, in my tank) and can be invasive: if they get on your structural rock, they're prone to take off. I traded in a foot-long rock totally covered in purple discosomas. It was pretty, but it was going to be the only type in my tank, wall to wall, if it had stayed.
OTOH, this could be a good thing if you had fish that are troublesome about corals.
