DSB Question

I have a very deep sand bed in an established 90 gallon mixed reef tank. It varies between 5-7" deep. I've had a number of people, who have been in the hobby much longer than myself, that have suggested removing most of the sand from the tank. I don't want to go bare bottom, but am considering reducing the sandbed to 1-2". I'm looking for some more opinions. To remove or not remove...that is the question. Any opinions?

Looks clean as is, are you having any issues that make you want to remove it?
How long has it been running as a DSB?

It is fairly clean. It has been established for about 4 years. I moved the tank about 3 months ago. When I did, I thought real hard about starting a new sand bed. I ended up moving the sand with the tank. I did so without any issues with ammonia/nitrates/nitrites. To my surprise, I did so without any of the tangs having any issues either! I just keep hearing all this talk about a dsb being a nutrient trap. This is probably a question that I should've asked 3 weeks ago, but I'm still debating on transitioning to a shallow sand bed. I guess I'm just looking for some opinions on deep sand beds vs shallow sand beds in general.
