ok there is help!!!!!!
first spend some time here http://reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=6
it will help ease the addiction
next you will have strong urges to mess with your tank for years
you need to find friends that hate saltwater lol spend time with them
it will take time to learn self control good luck most are not strong enough to fight the urge.

Tell them to start making fun of you about it. Then you will have to choose. And you already know which is going to be there every day for you.

I already get picked on. Once my car friends found out I put my 428cu.in cobra jet engine build on hold for my tank they freaked!! They do thinknits cool though. But a tank won't get my truck finished.

I'm afraid what you have is incurable. RC however provides a home where you can share those thoughts and desires that others without this disease would not understand.

As the addictions progresses you may feel the urge to go bigger and bigger, this is normal, try not to fight it because it only makes it worse.

In the event you decide to live inside your tank, seek professional help ..lol

Ummm. I had an indoor pond in my old house. Befor the economy tanked I was doing really well for myself and rented a big beautifull house from a friend who worked mostly in CA (I live in PA). Se was also a fish freek so I built a 12'x6'x4'deep concrete tank in the basement with an 8'x3' viewing windo in the front!! Lol. It had local cold water fish in it I caught at the local bass pond! Lol. 3large mouth, 2 speckled pike, several sunfish and bluegills. I wanted trout but couldn't get the flow up enough to feel safe keeping them alive. My girlfriend has a 300 year old house with a dirt floor and a spring running threw. I may try for trout in there.

There is no cure. When I moved & my boyfriend moved in with me, he had no interest in this hobby, so my old tank sat empty for 6 1/2 years. But...

6 1/2 years later he bought me a 55 gallon RR tank to "keep me busy" while he worked out of town a lot. A month in and he was hooked and doesn't work out of town anymore. 6 months later, he bought a 140, which is sitting in the garage waiting on a steel stand to be built. A year and 3 months later the 55 is looking awesome & I just painted the wall today where the 140 will go.

The only way to get better is to quit cold turkey. I will PM you my address so you can get rid of ALL your salt water stuff. I will make sure it is disposed of properly. I would go into more detail but I have to go do a water change...

Do you pull up a chair and sit with your nose inches from the tank looking for some obscure life form that you missed ?

Do you wake up at 3 am and decide to get the flashlight with the red lens just so you can check out your tank ?

Has your significant other referred to you as an "aquarium geek" ?

If you answered yes to all three you may have a problem. If you don't have a significant other because you're an "aquarium geek" you definitely have a problem.

hth.......

Give it 3-4 years and you'll be surprised at how little you care about that box of water.

Sorry, it's all over, there is no hope for you. Guess what else? No more two week vacations anymore, either.

HaHaHa! Love this post of Saltydrip and of course the replies. Looks like we're all in the same boat with the same frame of mind. I really have a hard time in dealing with the "What am I getting next for my tank" Look out for that one Saltydrip! An ongoing saga...as soon as you put one thing in your tank, you're already thinking of the next thing and researching it...Lol!!!! It is a great hobby...Thanks for the good chuckle this morning...Nice way to start the day!
