Skimmer/LR Questions

After about 2 years of not having a tank, I am in the process of getting my 55g tank up again.

1) All the live rock I had is now removed from the old water that had been sitting for 1-2 years. What should be done so I can reuse the rock? I also assume I would have to add new LR to start the tank out properly?

2) I currently have a Remora skimmer w/1400 pump that worked great. My question is there a way to use it in a sump under the tank? Im not a huge fan of it hanging off the back of the tank. If it is possible, are there any DIY threads showing this?

Thanks for any help.

For the live rock you would have to cure it first. There are plenty of threads that show you this process. Good luck!

Although the LR was just removed from my old setup, I plan on drying it your for a couple weeks. Is it still necessary to "Cure" the rock?

I would bleach the live rock. Fill a tub with R/O water and add some bleach; allow to sit for a few days. Then, rinse in clean R/O water and let sit for a week to allow the the bleach to evaporate. I did this for my 125g reef and I have had it up now for three years and do not have any pests at all.
