Anyone familiar w an AIO algae ID & remedy site or chart?
I am going to be upgrading tanks here shortly and even though I'm getting new rock some of the nuisance algae that has taken to my rock is starting on some of my corals. So just trying to get under control before hand.
Aside from dealing w flatworms I have had a recent outbreak of red turf algae and some type of green looking string algae that I am not familiar with. . LFS told me to raise magnesium for turf algae , any other options? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Funny you mention, mrsaltwatertank.com is offering a money back guarentee that his new book will cure your algae. Book available untill may 7th for $37 I feel its a bit pricey but he trashed his tank to show you it works and will give you your money back if it doesn't

Current Tank Info: 20G long (Drop) it may be just a drop of the ocean but its my drop and I love it! |

Adding a bunch of Kent Tech M may help with bryopsis (only, not any other algae that I've heard of), but it is not magnesium but rather an seeming impurity in Tech M as other magnesium supplements often do not work.

If you want to go nuclear you can use Fauna Marin Ultra Algae X. I used this to kill off my dinoflagellates, it also killed all my film algae and coralline algae as well. You have to remove any macro from your tank and any tridacnid clams, unless you want them gone too. It didn't harm any corals though. It takes a few weeks, but it works.

This is an option too, cost is 75 cents, kills all algae no problem, about a week. |

Perfect!
Now I can actually tell people what I have instead of describing it when seeking advice on algae, thank you Adrienne
From the ID chart and from other peoples posts ( thank you BTW) I have red turf alga, bryopsis and halimeda. So so fun
