powerheads for a 75 gallon tank

Hey everyone,
Anyone have good advice for powerheads or current makers on a 75 gallon tank..What size do I need ect. Thanks

depends what corals you want.... i have a 75 and a few sps with a mp40wes and a mp10... i kind of wish i got two mp40s though. but i couldnt swing the money.

I say get a Vortech mp40, maybe an mp10. They have a programmable wave algorithm. It works great!

Answers will vary depending on the corals that you will house.
But I would say that a good rule would be about 20-30x tank volume for softies and LPS. 40x if also housing SPS.

it also depends on your budget, I would have loved to get an mp40 or two mp10s but I just couldn't swing the high price for those units. I have in my 75 the jbj oceanstream dual 1600gph system, not the prettiest looking pumps but they work great and only cost $160

I will be running two Tunze Turbelle NanoStream Pump 6025 in my 75. Got them for $62 each.

The MP40 and an MP10 will be perfect, if you have the money. OR else a couple of Hydor Koralias will work.

It just depends on your budget, like others have mentioned. You can create the same effect with some of the cheaper powerheads on the market as opposed to the real expensive ones. I think if you were to do a poll you'll find that that's what the majority of us hobbyists do. There's some beautiful tanks out there.

No regrets with an mp40w. Got it off the forums for a good price. That and my koralia 1400 work very well together. Im starting to get into more sps so i will be getting another mp40 and selling my koralia. Like others say it all depends on your budget and what corals u plan on keeping.

Go with two or three Korallia 1050's. You can get them on sale for around $40/per. You won't be able to find a MP40 for less than $250 used, much less two of them. I love it when people recommend 2 $500 powerheads in the new to hobby section.

was going to upgrade to MP's but my koralia 1050's are doing just fine right now. previous owner of my tank had them for a few years I have them now switching on and off through my apex many times during the day for a few months now without a problem yet. i take them apart once ina while and scrub the parts free of algae for maintenance. still going to upgrade though, just waiting for one of the koralias to die.

I have 2 mp10's in a 76 gallon 1/2 round. Plenty of flow, I have them turned down to 75%-80%
