Return Pump Advise Needed
I have a 180 Gallon marineland RR tank that is about to finish cycling.
I have a 55 gallon DIY sump and after i move my livestock from my 75 gallon i could use my MAG 9.5 as my return pump on my 180 I have it closed at least half way on my 75 gallon so it may be ok for my 180 but I was not sure. I will have approx 6' of head on my return lines so i should be arround 700gph If this is not sufficient someone give me a better pump Id like to stay under $200 |

MAG's run too hot for me and aren't as reliable as an Eheim.
I have an Eheim 1262 on my 180g. Not the cheapest, or most efficient, but it starts every time and has been running strong from 3 years now. No issues, whatsoever.

The mag 9.5 will be plenty of turnover for that tank. It might not be my first choice but since you have it there is no point in spending money on something that is currently working, with the upgrade I suspect you will have plenty of things you could spend that money on that really do need to be upgraded. They do run hot so if heat is ever an issue just remember that this is a source of heat and can be addressed with a different pump if needed.
