Dump the bioballs.
No such thing as too much filtration for any SW tank. Always do a power out test. Have the tank running, then pull the power. And you will then know if it will overflow without have a huge mess. Just do it outside |

Being your total water volume I would assume be close to be 45 gallons....something that would be good for 60 or more. Its always good to get something that is overrated.

Wow, leave the hobby for a few years, and wonders never cease! After searching around, looks like this is the case. Thanks for the updated information. Is there anything that would adversely affect the switch from freshwater to saltwater tank?

I have seen sumps with sand in the bottom. What would be the benefits for my tank?

I would say for the most part cleaning with bleach or water and vinegar you should be ok. |

I really appreciate all the help guys... I have been doing freshwater aquariums for a long time and never really messed with salt water cause i was intimated. Now i have a bunch of free time when i get out of work and i have been looking for a new hobby and this seems to be right up my alley.
So thanks for answering my noob questions with a little more time i hope i can help out with some questions on this forum as well |

So i got a hold of the previous owner and he has the skimmer still... he says it is rated for 100 gallons. Is that going to be to much for my 30 gallon plus my sump?
