Found this fish 80 miles offshore of pensacola, florida - can someone identify?
Hello All,
I was sword fishing about 80 miles south of pensacola florida (florida panhandle) and this guy (picture attached) swam right up to our boat. I did not think i could catch it but he/she was pretty slow. I put it in my live well not thinking it would survive. It did however. When i got home i put him in my tank and he has been doing great. Does anyone know anything about this fish? I believe it is some kind of File Fish, but i do not know any more than that. Any help (max. size, food needs, reef safe, etc...) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all! |

Scrawled Filefish get very large. I swam with one while snorkeling in Puerto Rico. It was over 2' long.
