How do I look so far?

Do I need more rock? Sand? Or am I ok so far? I hope it's ok for my first fish tank. Picking saltwater as my first fish attempt has been quite the adventure so far!

Bear in mind that your rockwork will be hidden after while when the coral you've added have grown in. Think of the rockwork as scaffolding for your corals. There seems to be a lot of vertical surfaces. Try adding some shelf-rock for some horizontal surfaces providing you with more coral real estate.

Well, if all you are going for is saltwater fish and a few softies, then it's fine. I would probably raise the water level up to the lower edge of the frame. That way you don't have that waterfall effect from the HOB filters and you don't see the water edge.

If you are going for a mixed reef, then it's a different story.

Love that featherduster and the firefish! I like the minimalistic rockwork if you have a sump you could add liverock there if its just for filtration. Looks great congrats.

You guys are awesome! I'll see if I can't find some taller and/or shelving rocks for filtration. I don't plan on going full blown reef any time soon

Cute firefish! Looks a lot nicer than my first tanks did...

I like the look of a background on a tank too (I personally prefer plain dark blue) - especially with the lighter colored rock and fish, it makes them pop against it. Plus it hides a bit more of the equipment and helps some of the rest blend in a little more.
