Shrimp in 3 weeks, no parameter changes. What's up?
So I am resetting my reef due to being gone for three months and having it empty that whole time. I figured that with no source of ammonia for that time I would have lost to much beneficial bacteria so I wanted to force a cycle before adding new livestock.
I put a raw shimp in three weeks ago and I haven't seen any parameter spike in that time. Readings today were Ammonia:0.0 Nitrite: 0.0 Nitrate: 0.0 The only off parameter was salinity at 1.030, I will get that down tomorrow after making water. Any idea what might be going on? The only thing I can think of is that I still have my biopellet reactor running and maybe my tank did cycle. I should still see nitrates in the water though. |

I would get an outide source to confirm your test, how old are your test kits? If an LFS confirms test I would think the tank did cycle and the bio pellets "hid" the results. JMO

Six months until they expire, but yeah I could get the water verified at the LFS.
