Euroreef skimmer...
I have an older Euroreef skimmer with 2 Sedra 5000 pumps... This thing is a BEAST!!!
Are they still pretty good skimmers or should I look at selling it for something newer? |

I agree, keep it. Euroreef has been around for a long time but is still one of the best performing skimmers. I am a big believer in their skimmers. I am using a RS-250 on my 120 and love it.

Yeah I would keep it. If the pumps ever die on you, you could replace them with just a newer pump (like a bubble blaster), but the body really should last you forever. I own two euroreefs. I would love to get something new for fun, but I just can't justify it since these work so well.

I had a Euro Reef skimmer for a few years. It was a good skimmer. If I was you, I would just keep using it.

I'm running two Euro Reefs, a RS-250 on my 150 gallon, and a RS-80 on my 46. I like most would love something nice and fancy but these skimmers are work horses and they do the job very well. My RS-80 has the mesh mod impeller and the pin wheel impeller on the 250 have been the only things I have had to replace on them.

I run a euro reef 180 on my 120g and all i've changed is the pump, as the original one let the smoke out....lol. Good skimmer

I would stick with either sedra or eheim or ecoplus. These skimmers were built around these pumps and work most efficiently using ONLY these pumps. Venture out if you will, but I would stick with what the manufacturer recommends.

Yeah i was just about to add the bubbleblasters are not similar in watee and air draw. close is a psk1000 and it is not good at handling the backpressure from the huge reaction chamber. I tried my psk and it could not cut it. What I would suggest is the current impeller assembly from reef dynamics if you go sedra 5000 again. Keep the pump clean with water vinegar bath ever three to four months... I
