shrimp, pod or pest?
Just noticed that I have what looks to be very time shrimp like creatures darting around my live rock in one particular spot. I've tried to snap a picture but they're so tiny and move too fast that it's near impossible to get a clear shot. They're buzzing around just under my colt coral, between a couple pieces of live rock. They're about the size of a larger pod. Just wondering what these may be or if there is some way to determine what they are?

do they look like white ants (size and shape)? if so they are some type of pods, most cases a good thing.

Could definetly be a amphipod or isopod, amphipods are fine but some species of isopod are parasitic/bad, the munnid isopod is just fine though.
A true shrimp look could be the harmless mysid shrimp. |

Looks like an amphipods to me. My tank is crawling with them, they are good detritus eaters, as well as food for some fishes.

Without a pic, as mentioned google munnid isopod, amphipod, and copepod. See if any match.

Thanks for all the responses. After some extensive googling and following your leads I think they are either amphipods or mysid shrimp. I *think* I have seen them swimming as opposed to just scurrying around on the rocks, so would that make them mysis? To me they appear to look a little brown or beige in color. I will try to capture a video tonight. Not sure why I didn't think of that!
