Pineapple Sponge

Ok so I just picked up a rock that has been laying in my sump and it is covered in Pineapple sponges. Should I take this out. I currently do not have any in my DT. Will anyone eat these?

Pineapple sponges are harmless. In fact they are good water filter'ers. I believe angels and dwarf angels may eat them so if you have any, they may help.

I wouldn't worry about them. Some angels might eat them but buying a specific creature to eat another creature has failed more than worked for me..you just never know if one specific "natural predator" will have a taste for what you want them to eat. So only buy one if you already wanted one!

The good news is they are beneficially and usually stay in the shadows. If you wonder why it's hard to find something that successfully (or failed to) eat something you have it's probably because most people don't care.

I had a bunch in my 75g (3 tanks ago) and they never caused a problem or got in the way. I actually forgot about them until now.

In my experience, they usually grow in the dark, or at least out of direct bright light. You likely have them in your display, just where you cant see them.
