Alkalinity Test Kit
I've been using red sea, and not a fan of the alkalinity test kit. What are some other options?

I have/use the red sea pro alk kit without problems, but Salifert is a good option, or a Hanna meter, which is what I'm using now.

A Hanna Checker or Salifert. I ran side by side tests once a week for a month with my Hanna Checker, a Red Sea and Salifert test kits and all three read very close to one another. I actually think the Red Sea Test Kit was the easist of the three to use.

I love the Hanna checker for this. VERY consistent. I will never go back. Plus the regents are only $10. It's a little more up front $60? but if you test twice weekly like me it's cheaper. Really easy to use.

I've been using the Tetra KH test kit for years on end without any problems. It might not be the most precise test kit out there, but it seems as though it's in the ballpark. My corals look great. Once a routine has been established though, you won't really need to test for anything IME. Maybe SG for water changes, but that's about it.

I have used LaMotte for years. About a year ago I bought an API test kit. I got the same alkalinity readings from both. So now I use the API as it is less work.

My problem with the red sea is the color change. When I origimally bought it, it was more of a red. Bought refill its more of an orange. Which doesnt match my card. Im guessing at it now. I still habe api left but its old and not sure of accuracy

+3 or 4 whatever the count is at!
I tend to do Salifert more often... just quicker and get trustworthy result regardless.
