TUNZE OSMOLATOR question....

Say i install this inside my sump to the correct level i want my sump running. when i turn my return pump off for water changes or maintenance. my sump back fills a couple inches.

so when it back fills, the tunze sensor will get submerged till i turn main pump back on.. will the float and sensor be damaged when submerged when the sump back fills?

while im typing this im actually thinking of putting a check valve on the return line so it wont back fill as much. but even with that, the sump will still rise some from the water before the check valve and whats finishes draining from the overflow boxes..

what are everyones thoughts and recommendations???

does the float and sensor get submerged when you turn it off and do a water change?

I have it set up that the sensor is where the water level is while the pump is running and I set the float valve right above the water level when the pump is off. This way the alarm isnt ringing every time the pump gets turned off for water changes, feeding, etc. As far as the sensors being damaged, I would say no, they are made to be put in water. I have had this set up this way for about 4 months now, not a single problem.

yeah man, no worries. I also happen to unplug my ATO system when doing water changes but it doesn't matter if the sensor gets submerged. Like mentioned the more annoying thing to me would be the alarm going off so you'll have to raise that high if you're not going to unplug the system. Setting the levels is real easy now with the magnets .

The float and sensor WILL NOT get damaged. They are made to get submerged.

Btw, I have had these on multiple tanks for years.

Probably the best piece of equipment in this hobby. I've had two and they always work great. You can disable the audible alarm if it annoys you.

Love mine, I have it and my skimmer set to shut off if my return pump is off. My tunze sensor gets fully submerged as we'll during water changes.

FYI there is a jumper setting to turn off the audible alarm on the 3155. Mine is set so the alarm is off. This way it does not sound off when the return pump shuts off for feeding.

I turn mine off during water changes or the thing keeps trying to refill the sump with R/O water. I also set my float slighly higher the water level when my return is turn off. That way the alarm doesn't start sounding when I turn it back on.
