quarantine tank in sump

I have a question regarding quarantine tank for sps corals.

Due to space constraints to setup a separate tank, is it possible to have the quarantine tank in the sump to prevents pest like AEFW, etc from entering the main display tank.

It is possible, but IMO Setting setting up lika 10 gallon right next to the tank sounds much more practical, and risk free...

+1. it would be the same as putting the coral into the display if the QT is attached to the system imo.

Im confused do you mean a separated system under the main tank, that would work, tying it into the system would make no difference.

It can't share water with the dt, because all sorts of things, up to bug-sized, make it through the pumps from sump to dt.

Qt must not share water with the dt. That's the point of quarantine. Things get through the pump.

Despite all the nay-sayers out there, I have a QT in my sump.
It is a 3g jug (plastic jar originally containing pretzels) sitting in the sump that happens to be just large enough to accommodate it.
By default, it comes with temperature control since the jug sits in DT water.
I fill the jug with the DT water and siphon out old water into a separate bin. -When done with the QT the fish will be well used to the DT water and with the every-other-day 30% water changes in QT I also change the DT water. (I use the water twice). Of course the QT water never directly contacts the DT water.
All I really needed was the jug, some PVC piping as 'furniture' in the QT, and a small air pump.
IMHO it can be done.

Even with a separate container floating in the sump I would be worried about cross contamination. I keep my QT in a different room and never use nets or other tools from the QT in my DT.
