Ich problem
So I introduced a yellow tang with ich to my tank and now all my other fish have it. I'm contemplating setting up my 10 gallon as a quarantine but I can't put 2 clownfish a yellow tang and a foxface in it so how do I treat them all? Can I treat them one or two at a time in it?

They all need to be removed together from the DT to be treated, they can be treated in separate tanks. If you need help with cures there is a sticky at the top of the forum.

If it's for treatment, a 10 gal will do for now. If you do nothing at all, they will probably die. So get them into the 10gal for treatment, and get a bigger tank like a 20 long for long term treatment. Keep your display empty of fish for 6-8-10 weeks to kill off the ich.

If it's the best you can do in a pinch, it's better then doing nothing at all.

Having just gone through the tank to tank transfer method, I would suggest you look into it. That many fish in a 10 gallon tank its going to be almost impossible to keep the ammonia from building up and I don't think you can use Prime with copper based medicine.
Instant ocean Bio-Spire instant cycle seems to work. I put some in my temp tank what was showing ammonia and within a couple of days, its down to 0. |

10 gal will be way to small if ur fish are fairly large. I know a large tank can be expensive, but how about a large 30 gal plastic storage tote? They're like $10. If you do go that route, get two if the sides aren't very ridged. Then put one inside the other. Otherwise sides might bow from the water pressure and not hold up over time.

Copper, hyposailinty, and tank transfer method are the recommended treatments for ick with greatest chance of success. Google these, you will find step by step instructions. |

In a 10gal you'll probably be doing a 50% water change every other day to stay on top of the water quality..... Maybe more depending how big the fish are and how much you feed. An empty tank will have no biological filtration at all, so ammonia will spike very quickly. 50% water changes are stressful on the fish, unless you're very careful and match the parameters of the makeup water very closely to that of the water the fish are in. It's a lot of work. Check Craig list, lotsa cheap large tanks on there. Or get a plastic tote/tub/trashcan. I'd say at least 30 gal. The bigger the better

The yellow tang is about 3-4 inches and the foxface is probably 5 inches

What is the quickest way between hypo and the super ick cure I don't like the idea of jumping em from one tank to the next Im thinking of going with hypo if that's the quickest and safest way to do it

Quick does not really matter. If you do not want to treat them again then you should leave your DT fishless for 72 days. This will eliminate the ich from the DT. TTM is the quickest treatment for ick.

If there healthy acting and eating well still should I just wait it out and do more frequent water changes or will they still eventually die from it?

Eventually the ich will get to them or a secondary infection will. How soon no one can guess. Just my 2 cents.

Tank or tote, either will work. Tote will be bigger and cheaper, but easier to observe fish in tank to check them over. Filter is not 100% necessary, but some sort of circulation like a power head is. You don't need 2, just wash it really well when you move from one tank to the other to reduce chances of reintroducing the ich.

Skimming through that thread looks like every 3 days, total of 4 times. I've never used this method personally.
