Protein Skimmer

Have my new Fluval ps1 internal protein skimmer running.
It says when most of the cup is showing its for dark foam/skimming and when hardly any cup showing light foam skimming.
Would it be wet skimming when the cups all the way down and dry when most the cups showing.
Only confused me because thought that when wet skimming supposed to be the best for removing gunk but says that is only for normal stocking level/light foam skimming.
thanks

Wet is when the skim-mate is less contcentrated ..ie more watery. You tend to fill the cup faster this way compaired to dry. The cup position is only relative on the type of skim-mate you want to produce. You have find what's best for you. Too wet just pulls out more water than waste and too dry doesn't produce much skim mate at all.

Also a clean tank will hardly produce any skim mate.
