Apex DOS or peristaltic pump w. apex programming?

Apex DOS or peristaltic pump w. apex programming?

Planning on a return to this hobby, and have a few questions.

The APEX DOS limits you to two pumps, which stinks. Yes, one can do 2 part, but for ATO and other elements and coral foods you are stuck with anoretic $349 purchase!

My question is can one not just buy a few peristaltic pumps, and simply program the apex (advanced mode) with the dosing? This way you can have unlimited pumps (As long as outlets are available), and the same degree of control over the dosing.

What do you think? Neptune Systems, feel free to chime in!

Yes. Two reasons I chose the DOS are the flexibility in dosing rate from drips per day to 500ml/minute (If I remember correctly) as well as backward, and the long life of the tubing.

But you are only dosing 2 things- and the benefits you describe apply to many pumps.

Will Neptune Systems be introducing a slave pump later?

Dos. You will not find a dosing pump that will integrate anywhere near as well with Apex let alone be as accurate and well supported. Your only other choice when it comes to something of good quality and accuracy that will last a long long time and are proven to be reliable and well supported would be to get a pump like the Litermeter III or the GHL dosing pump. . Both of those are controlled via their own interface and can only be powered off by the Apex. I won't even get into the cheapo dosing pump debate as companies like Jebao don't make quality products and I certainly wouldn't trust one of those pumps to dose my tank with chemicals or additives. I value my livestock too much and have way too much invested in my tank to even consider such a short cut.

I use a Dos for thawed frozen food feeding and it's been serving me very well. As a dosing pump, the programming couldn't get any easier.
