Pics of my first reef tank after 2 months
Hi All, I finally managed to take some good pictures of my tank and wanted to share and get some feedback. After about 6 months of research, I bought an established reef tank off craiglist and have had it for about two and half months. Here are some details:
DT: Aqueon 4'x2'x2' 120g RR w/ 80lb rock, 60lb sand Sump: 40g Aquatic Systems refugium sump - 20lb MM, 15lb rubble, cheato, mixed cleaupera, kessil A150 6700k Lights: AI Hydras /w Director Skimmer: AquaC EV-180 powered by Jebao DCT4000 w/ Auto-Shutoff Collector Return pump: Jebao DCT4000 Flow: Gyre XF150 Filtration: 3x PhosBan 150s (BRS pellets, BRS GFO, Carbon) inline on Ehiem Compact+ 2000 Heaters: 2x Jager 200W Misc: Kore 5th PRO Doser (currently doing only ATO) Fish: Purple, Kole and Tomini Tangs, Blue Damsel, Filefish, Percula and Maroon clowns, CB, Sixline Wrass, Sunrise and Strawberry Dottybacks, Black Blenny, Skunk Cleaner shrimp and Urchen Corals: Zoas, Mushroom, Ricordias, Kenya Tree, Frogspawn, Duncans, Acans, Candy canes, Chalice, Montiporas and Pavona. Damn, looks like I just jinxed myself on the clowns getting along. Came home and found the maroon with his fins shredded. He is resting in a breeder box now.

Looking really good, especially considering the move. Do you or anyone know what the red thing is the second picture you posted?

As far as the DCT4000, it is overkill for the EV-180, I had to remove the gate valve completely to keep up with the pump. I installed a ball valve and slightly closed it. I love the fact that I can adjust thinkness of the skimmate with the controller. It is quieter than I expected, there is a bit of air sucking noise from the air control valve. The noise of water falling from the output drowns out both pump and skimmer. |
