HELP !!! how bad is this stand issue ??

hey guys, have a all glass missionary stand, the leg seems to be splitting. how bad is this and are there repair options ?? the stand is on carpet, with limited access to the back but inside and side are available.
could i glue, screw, brace, anything ?? i have some composite c clamps that would work for pressing the side together, not sure about getting the wider flared area back in line. ratchet strap or anything ??
the tank is a 4x2 120g, sump, water storage, all the usual stand stuff. stand is 8+ years old.

any tips, thoughts, ideas would be great. sure would be an enormous pita to find and swap stands.
thanks so very much for the time!!

I would glue it, and screw it back together.

The construction on the manufacturer stands is mediocre at best. Frequently they're simply stapled together. Those panels are made of furniture board (coarse particle board,) so gluing the edges won't have the best hold and screws won't hold as well as with solid wood. I would try gluing and screwing first, but it might not work. spread glue in the joint and use a bar clamp to pull the end panels back onto the back panels and then screw it together. Use coarse threaded screws with a small pilot hole.

My big concern is that in the last picture it appears that the end panel is bowing outwards. That makes me more concerned for the structural integrity of the stand. You can glue the joint back together, but the panel is bowing out you should replace the stand.

If it's wood, it may be able to be braced. If it's particle board, it's shot. I'd throw a packing strap around that bottom, tight as needs to keep it from bowing more, but I'd be wary of pulling it in too tight; and I'd start shopping for a new stand or making one. Triangular braces of wood, with Liquid Nails on a prepared bare wood surface inside might save it, but only if we're talking real wood, and only if you can get the glue to 'take.' The thought of a 120 landing in the floor is just real scary.

the stand is suppose to be pine, its an all glass missionary, not a cheap particle board one, but could be not that great of one. trying to be positive, replacement is like 800$ +

the last picture that the piece is bowing out is like the lower lip, could be a brace deal. in the first picture its on the left.

thanks so much so far

Glue and screw, doesn't look that bad but I would be concerned the rest of it coming apart.

I'd try to brace the inside as much as possible to keep anything else from coming apart. Pocket screws and wood triangles make this really easy.
