Anyone willing to vett my stocking list?

Heya all! I'm new to the hobby and have been posting questions here for about a month or so as I setup and cycled my tank. Now im about ready to start getting fish. All fish to be quarantined for at least a month before I put them into my display. Corals I plan on giving a dip and keeping them in quarantine for about 2-3 weeks to let any potential ich spores to hatch and die.

Tank 56 Column with a 29 gal sump.
55 lbs of live rock with 10 lbs rubble in the sump.
25 lbs of live sand (oolite)
protein skimmer
2 mp10 powerheads

Keep in mind, im not planning on getting all of these right off the bat, these are just the fish that caught my eye and I would like
  • Ocellaris Clownfish (2) as starter fish
  • Royal Gramma Basslet
  • Clown Goby, Yellow
  • Diamond Watchman Goby
  • Bicolor Dottyback
  • Flame Hawkfish (not 100% sure if this will work...)
  • Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse

As far as cleaners go, Im undecided if I wana include crabs in it... I like em, but I understand they do cause a problem or two...

Also, I am completely undecided on starter corals, though im giving some real thought to some of liveaquarias starter coral packs. but will see on that.

Any advice or wording would be appreciated!

Well most doty's are very mean, hawkfish can be too, and that yellow clown goby will nip on sps.
For starter corals I like frogspawn and hammer, always my first add.

Thanks for the heads up. I was afraid of that with the hawkfish, but I thought the doty could do alright so long as they are the only one of their type in the tank?

I got an interest in the clown goby after seeing one perched on and living in a bit of acropora, and just loved the look. But I guess that may be a bad idea then...

I do love the hammer and frogspawn!

Some people have luck w/ the friedmani dotty's, they are supposed to be be less mean than others, as dottys go anyway.
Yeah I bet that yellow clown goby looked happy perched on that delicious acro!

Happy as a clam he was! did look like an awesome fish though... too bad about the coral munching habit... odd that this was in a large tank and the corals looked really good... that said, I wasnt looking for him to be eating his home

In large tanks some people get lucky w/ fish that may nip a little here and there w/out much noticeable damage.

Start with leathers if you are planning on any. Very hardy. I would include a sand-sifting goby (bullet goby ) and you won't have to worry about sand cleaning as much. I have tangs in my 55, but many feel it is too small. My guys hang very nicely together though as you can see.

i have dottybacks and royal gramma basselets in different tanks, im not sure about them in the same tank as they are very similar, i would only get one to avoid agression.

Given that the dottyback seems to be a slightly more aggressive species. I may wana go with the basselets then.

Though its a shame, the dottyback is a really beautiful looking fish
