Skimmer not skimming
Before I had a sump, I had an HOB skimmer. It's an Eshopps psk 75 hob skimmer. It worked great and pulled a ton of stuff out of my water... When I got a sump, I replaced the skimmer for a reef octopus. The reef octopus has been set up for several months now and hasn't pulled anything so I thought it was the skimmer. I thought well I can use my old hob skimmer. It has been set up for over a week now and hasn't done anything either. There is barely any foam in either of them. What is happening? Is there too low of a bioload? I have 2 clowns in a 36 gallon tank. I also read somewhere that if your water is too clean that your skimmer won't skim anything. Is that true? Is that what is happening?

2 clowns isn't much of a load at all, the reason why your hob was working before is because you had die off from your rock and such when your tank was cycling. Now that it's cycled and your bioload is so minimal is why not to much of anything is happening in the skimmer. What skimmer are you running now?
