Pest eating Acros: FOUND ~ Please help ID
Dear ReefCentral Members,
A while back I was asking if anyone knew what was eating my Acropora. Well I found the culprit. It is about the size of the corn, leaves these tubular things behind and either is or lives in this squishy thing with a small hole in the top. It looks like a little ball with a spout. Pictures below: Does anyone know what these are and how I can get rid of them in a reef tank? |

Is it a worm? Are the balls easy to squish and dispose of? I found a worm like this once on an acan at work (I work for a LFS) it killed so many heads on the acan. Only way I got rid of it was cutting it in half with a band saw. I was cutting the dead parts off the acan

Looks like a turnicate and sponge, doubt it has anything to do with your dying acro since they are good things. If that's what it is.... I think pics of the coral will help everyone help you.
