Skimz calcium reactor leaks from glued fitting.
So I ordered the 4' 8" skimz calcium reactor. One side chamber came broke, and the packaging was horrible. No foam on the sides to prevent this, just box. I was very excited to get it running even though the base of this huge skimmer had me worried, it is pretty thin. I liked how all fittings are glued but it's glued with a tan colored substance, not clear like a weldon which imo should be used. So I hooked it up and it is leaking fairly good out of the glued pH probe thread area. I was amazed how it would leak like this. Something must really be wrong either when they prepared the surface to glue or wrong with the glue. It will be extremely hard for me to trust this thing now, and I don't want to return anything because that's always a pain through the mail...
Anyone else had leaks on factory glued fittings on skimz prouducts? If so was it this tan type glue that was used? I am still waiting for the replacement chamber to come in from bulk reef. I haven't called yet about the leak because I want more info on the situation, if it's just mine or more. |

Also the main water feed valve fitting came without the plastic lock insert like the jg fittings have, you can pull it right out by bumping it. Does skimz have a forum or a number I can call just incase brs gives me trouble?

You will want to go through BRS. Skimz is in Singapore and they do not have US representation. IMHO, if it's leaking, I would send it back and ask for a new one.
Good Luck

Yea I am going to call them today. Just the fact that it leaks so bad makes me weary of even using another with the same type of glued fittings. Also want to see if others have experienced this, if so my feeling would get worse.
