T8 ballast question

Even though this is a "general" lighting question, it does tend to lean more towards freshwater. However, the amount of knowledge, and quick responses of Reef Central are hard to pass up. sorry in advance.

Question - I have an extra T8 ballast that used an 18" 15w T8 bulb. Is it possible to use this same ballast for a larger T8 bulb? Say 48" 32w T8?

Thanks in advance and sorry again if this doesn't 100% belong on the reef forums, but the advice here is unparalleled.

The label on the ballast should tell you what it is capable of firing. Ballasts are pretty cheap, I would just go get a proper one.
