Pulsing Xenia help!!
I just got this guy and he doesn't look so good not sure if he is just adjusting or what. Standard lighting. Not sure if it's the light, flow or just getting used to the tank. Wondering if I should move him or just leave him there

What do you mean by standard lighting? And it doesn't look like you have any flow in there from the pics

It's a 29 gallon tank with the lighting that came with it. I mean I have a power head in there and when I put it other places it would just get hit by the flow and it would fall off the Rock and to the sand

There's a little hole in the rock and so I just put the stalk in the hole and it's staying there

Do you mean like the standard petco yellow 29g kit light?

That doesn't help much but they don't look like reef tank lights

I heard they are pretty hardy and low lighting isn't too bad on them and should flourish

+1 don't look like reef lights, but Xenia are pretty Hardy growers anyway. What do you mean you put the stalk in there? Was it attached to a piece of rubble or a frag disk?

Stalk I mean the base of it. The bottom broccoli looking piece, it was not attached to anything and I put in on a rock and the flow kept pushing it slowly and it would fall off to the sand. There's a small hole in the rock and I put the base inside the hole so it's mounted and stays in place. They seem to be doing better

It almost seems as if the Xenia is trying to move downward but I'm not sure yet. It might just be how it is sitting

You need reasonable lighting for a Xenia, doesn't require especially strong lighting. Mine looked like hell for 2 weeks when I first got it and then it was fine. Been flourishing and pulsing away for months now.

rubberband it to a piece of rock. xenia are pretty hardy and fast grower. as long as they are not melting, they'll be fine. xenia can even grow under cfl bulb light in the sump.

Move it to a lower flow area of the tank. They like the bottom, put it on a plug and put him in the sand in a low flow area for about 2 months.
