one chiller or two chiliers for a 220 gallon tank

Guys I am upgrading my tank from a 60 gallon to a 220 gallon tank. I am already running a chiller for a 100 gallon tank.

I am thinking of buying a chiller so that two of them will work and chill the tank together rather that if one fails at least there will be one that is working.

What do you think ? Or just buy one big one.

I have a 240 g tank with 260 total system water volume. I use a 1/3 hp chiller. It's not on very often. I have AI Hydra 52 HD's.

What lights are you runnng?
I have a 240g and run halides. Bought a penguin chiller. Smaller company made in the USA.

Considering the common advice to run a pair of heaters, I'd probably go with adding a second chiller. You may not need to, depending upon your tank setup and how well it sheds heat.

Have you thought of trying to add a sump fan instead? You could have it run from before untill after your photoperiod to cut down on your chiller needs. This may save you the cost of a second chiller and the elec to run it.

The worst that happens is you are out the cost of a small box or clipon fan.

The one problem I see is that you are rating your chiller by the gallon instead of by how much heat it can remove (the HP number) figure out how much more heat you will be adding and you can answer your own question much better.
