Smile New 20 gallon long reef

Set up my 20 gallon long today 22 pounds of live rock aqua clear filter custom media 20 pounds of sand.waiting on my powerheads and also will add skimmer when it’s cycle. Fishless cycle with ammonia I’ll update with progress

Depending on where you got the "live rock" you might not have or need a cycle..
Or did you mean dry rock..

You could remove a few pounds of sand, it'll increase your water volume without affecting your overall cycling capability. In a 20 gallon your rock is the real bio-medium, and deep sand just becomes a nutrient trap.

I got it an an hour and a half away and it was out for a while there will always be a die of even if it’s a mini cycle I like doing the ammonia way to make sure the tank can handle it and break it down as I’ve done with all my other feed tanks

The sand bed isn’t very deep at all if it wasn’t a 20 gallon LONG I would have removed a few pounds
