Chaeto Reactor turned Algae Scrubber
Can anyone explain why my Chaeto Reactor is behaving like an Algae Scrubber? I was expecting good Chaeto growth but instead I see algae as you would see in an Algae Scrubber. The growth has exponentially gotten better after I switched from "yellow" led lights to "blue and red lights" (same behavior in both type of lights). The Chaeto Reactor I got is from BulkReefSupply from Aquamaxx (I could have gone with DIY and cheaper though since the lights they provided are not great)
I got good Chaeto and Red Ogo growth in my sump using Kessil's H80 light. There's some hair algae on the sump but the Chaeto and Red Ogo outplays them. However in the Chaeto Reactor it's the opposite. |

I had the same issue and noticed it was because the algae grows right where the lights are wrapped and blocks most of the light from getting to the Chaeto.
