How are they modified?
FWIW 2 1200's should not be too much flow in a 38.

And I'm guessing you have tried to point them away from the sand as much as you can with the mod. If you put the MJ's on either end of the tank and aim them both toward the center will that help? Can you get a new piece to replace the one you cut?

Best solution is to put a spraybar on the maxijet, can't do that without a nozzle though.

I think you're out of luck and need to buy new powerheads.

I need to find something to fit over the bottom of the powerhead.....so I can cut a new hole.....not as wide as the one I did.......maybe a piece of pvc just dont what size it is

you could epoxy some tubing where the output has been cut off & then tee it into 2 directions to split the flow into 2 directions

or

possibly contact the manufactur to get a new lower housing I doubt that part would be very much. Customer service # is 1-800-822-1100.

Or try this http://www.hydor.it/inglese/flo.htm I have been using them on my MJ1200s & they work great so far. You will have to fix or replace the outlet for this to mount to the MJ1200
