Randy's Two-part dosing !!!

Hi all,
What is the best method to dose Randy's two parts ? Dosing pump or manual dose? If its doing pump what is the best pump with the drop control? Please help.
Thanks

It's not cheap, but I use a two pump litermeter. By dosing opposite my lighting schedule, I've removed almost all ph variation in the tank (I use the high ph recipe). This is the truly painless, reliable way to maintain ca/alk! I also use kalk for all evap makeup, but I have a covered tank, so I don't get a lot of contribution from that,
Mike

It's not required to use a dosing pump. If you want to go the cheap route, you can add the parts to your makeup water.

I add 1/4 cup of each part to 1-1 1/2 gals of DI water on alternating days (part 1 today, part 2 tomorrow). Drip it using an airhose with a air valve on it. It's a daily routine, and I will probably eventually get a 2 pump system to do it more automatically, but you don't have to let the lack of a pump stop you from dosing. I found that dripping the straight solution without diluting it caused local precipitation when the drips hit the water.

i am really surprised your calcium doesnt precipitate out doing it that way!

i dose it manually every day. i dose about 45 mLs every day of both parts. my 75g doesnt have a large demand but if the calc or alk drops i just add a little more of the corresponding part the next day. unless you are out of town alot dosing manually isnt that hard.

I don't mix the parts together, I do them on alternating days. What do you see wrong with my method?

got ya. i miss read it the first time. i thought you ment you put both together. i still like dosing both parts the same day. keeps it balanced. but again i dont have to dose large amounts at once either.

I agree that dosing both parts on the same day would be more ideal, but it's just easier doing it this way. I'm really not adding a lot since I probably have 2-3 times as much water as you do.
