Tank Volume Question
I am planning the design of my next tank that I will build myself and a question ocurred to me when using the Tank Volume Calculator.
The tank I am planning is 6'x3'x2' (72"x36"x24") and is calculated at 269.3 Gallons. My question is regarding the measurements. When we say 6'x3'x2', etc, are we quoting the Outside Diameter of the tank or the Inside Diameter?

It depends on how you make it. If you buy the acrylic in the dimensions you listed then that number you came up with isnt correct. The thickness of the material (either acrylic or glass) comes into play on your true water volume amounts.
When you make your tank you will be putting the side pieces inbetween your front and back, that makes your 6' number actually 6' minus the thickness of the material. Lets say you use 1/2" material then you are looking at 71" x 36" x 24" = 265.6 gal. HTH ![]()
