I don't think it is for drinking. It strips out the essentials of normal drinking water. RO would be fine. But not the DI portion. I know of no one that drinks it. I do not.

It's only for the tank. A lot of people have the RO part plumbed into there sink for normal everyday drinking water. It's easy to do.

Regards,

Pat

My Spectrapure RO/DI came with drinking water kit .you know the bladder tanks for under the sink with a small foucet. The RO water line has a T in it and goes to the drinking tank and to the DI. RO water is good for drinking becouse it takes out the clorine and flouride which should not be injested (I now I'm going to start a debate) IMO. DI is for the fish.

I heard some where that when you drink ro/di that it does something to the electrons in your body and it can make you faint if you drink to much. so i say no and i heard this from a doctor.

RO yes, RO/DI no at my house... I have seperate units for each...not by plan... I had the RO first and got a used RO/DI last summer for $75 (Spectra Pure) that I'm real happy with.

There is no medical evidence that drinking DI water will harm you. But its a waste of DI resin when RO water alone is great for drinking. DI also tastes pretty bland since its so pure.

it could cause harm to you if you drank enough. it's that silly osmosis thing. since most are dehydrated on a daily basis anyway, you shouldn't have a problem drinking it.

i drink it and nothing has happened yet (about a gal/day).

Funny thing, Distilled water drinkers will deny that to death.

You couldn't possibly drink enough to cause harm. You would die of overhydration first.

You are 100% correct. There's no debating it. Chlorine and flouride are poisons that if consumed in high enough quantities will kill you. Even though municipal water co. put it in the water to kill microorganisms and humans don't get sick doesn't change what it is. That is why toothpaste for toddlers is flouride-free because they have tendency to swallow it instead of spit it out.

DI water can mess with your electrolyte balance if you drink a lot of it. Average rule of thumb is to drink 1oz of H2O/ pound of body weight over the course of an entire day for optimal health. (eg. a 100lb person should be drinking roughly 100oz of water per day) Juices, milk etc count toward this total. So I would think if you drank DI to this extent you'd most likely not feel too good. Keep in mind the changes would be subtle over some time. How long? Who knows?

OK I'm off my soapbox now and to answer your question, no, I don't drink my RO/DI water.

im not an expert in any sense of the word, but, i would think most people pick up more than enough salt and other electrolites through meals to more than cover what is needed.
i drink ro water though, not di, and its not the best, my drinking unit is at 10ppm, my tank unit is ro/di and i read 0ppm out of it, but i dont drink it

oh yeah, and ro water at 10ppm is delicious =)

The concern is more that the ultra pure water could theoretically draw minerals and such from your body rather than not getting the things you need from the water. You are correct though we get almost nothing from the water we drink, its almost entirely from food and a slight amount from supplements.
Remember DI water is very agressive, it trys to attract things to get back to its natural state.

They sell DI in the stores with all the other drinking water and there are drinking kits that you can get with your RO/DI. I am sure the water that comes out of there is safer then the water in Afghanistan.

one thing that comes to mind is that you arent supposed to breath ozone, which is just o3 which would rather be o2 and o+almost anything else, which kind of is in the same way how di water acts but to a lesser extent
