Salifert for me, except for pH. I use a Pinpoint pH probe for that.

I have moved almost exclusively to Salifert. These tests are extremely accurate and easy to read. I use these for Nitrates, Magnesium, Phosphates, PH, etc
I do still use my Aquarium Pharmaceuticals for things like Ammonia and Nitrites. It is cheaper, easy to read and fairly reliable. HTH Robert

Salifert for calcium, alkalinity, phosphate, nitrate, and magnesium.
Pinpoint pH meter for pH. Refractometer for salinity. And for when you are cycling, SeaChem has cheap test kits for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. There is a beginning package or something for $26 with those 3 and a few more. |

I have never used the Salifert Tests before;
Salifert Test Kit is almost $300 Hagan Master Test Kit $60 Chemtester Plus digital tester $325 How come the Salifert is so expensive - almost as much as a digital test monitor and over 4 times the cost of Hagans. Is it realy that much better? |

Salifert for Ca, Alk, Nitrates, Mg and pH probe for PH. I think if you buy only what you need Salifert are not overly expensive.
