Question Setup Questions

I currently have two seperate 55 gallon tanks. One is my reef tank, and the other is a Macroalgae tank. (Caulerpa). I want to use the Macroalgae Tank as a sump tank for the 55 gallon reef upstairs. (The Reef is on the main level of our home and the Macro tank is in the basement.)

I ordered a SQWD and another Pre-Drilled 55 gallon tank to allow for the water to drain to the basement, and for me to return the water back up to the main tank upstairs.

My question is, what is the best way to set-up the 55 gallon tank in the basement (THE SUMP) - I wanted to possibly do two seperate things with it, The first is use it as a refugium with the Macro-Algae, and the second is to also use it as a frag growout tank. (Is it advisable to use 1 tank for both? Can it be done? If so, what is the best way to set it up.

Currently I only have a protein skimmer on the tank, with Marineland Tidepool- Which I hate due to flooding, and elevated algae in the display tank. I want to completely get rid of the Tidepool when the new tank comes in. So I will lose a place to store the carbon cartridge, that is another issue I don't quite know how to resolve.

I want to get a Calcium Reactor sometime in the future, I also want to run a line from my RO/DI to the 55 gallon sump. It is 22feet apart from each other. I have no idea how to hook up the Float switch to a tank with no holes drilled in it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would set one up as my grow out and the other as a sump/fuge. For a new skimmer you might want to look at a ASM G-3.
