I was wondering what types of acuatic plants can i have in my tank ( not in my sump, as i don`t have one) because i read that they help reduce nitrate levels.( is this correct?) Which ones would you recomend?

thanks..

You can use chaetomorpha in your display since it won't attach to the rockwork like caulerpa. And yes if will help reduce your nitrate levels.

There are various algae that can help reduce nitrates. Caulerpa and Chaetomorpha spp are the most common. Just grow and harvest regularly. The Caulerpa are more prone to sporulation, which means they turn into reproductive cells and disperse in the tank. The reproductive cells then die and can foul the tank.

Caulerpa does attach to rock and tends to make a mess, though as well.
