Which RO Unit???? Help wanted

Greetings reefers!

I noticed one of the sponsers here is Purely H2O

and i saw this little RO unit for 79 bucks!
they call it "The Nano Max Aquarium RO System"

anyway it says it can do 100 gpd and it has a 1 micron carbon block...

or i was lookin at this other RO unit sold at Melevsreef.com

for $149 bucks and it looks like it has more canisters and fancier but who knows...

I am tired of hauling water from my lfs. and it is sort of a hastle since i'm not home much. but keep in mind i'm a student and $$$$ doesnt grow on trees, so thats why the $80 one is looking good

the one from purlyh20you pointed out is just an ro unit the one from melves is an rodi unit. which is why the big price diff. and more canisters you want an rodi unit as it will bring your tds down to 0. if i were you i would get this if you want a good filter. i have a purlyh20 system only the 189.00 one and love it. also the costomer service is top notch you won't be dissapointed.

I bought a typhoon III from www.airwaterice.com about 3 weeks ago. It comes with 5 stages, including a vertical DI, a flush kit, a tds meter (which is very useful), a psi guage, etc. So far i'm extremely happy with the unit. Its a real dow filmtec membrane as well. Its around 200.00 + like 20.00 shipping, but their customer support and the quality of the unit it well worth it IMO.

There are several places I would recommend to look. All build similar units using very high quality components. When buying look for things like a Dow Filmtec 75 GPD RO membrane not the 100 which is less efficient, a refillable DI canister and cartridge, and extras like a pressure gauge and TDS meter if you don't already have them. An add on drinking water kit is nice to have and sometimes makes it easier to convince the significant other that you need the system for "drinking water" to keep the family healthy!

You will be happy with any of these units along with the technical support and customer service you get! Every ones of these vendors caters to the "Reef Hobbist" and as you know we can be a bit demanding and picky at times but why shouldn't we be with the investment we have in our corals and livestock. Steer clear of most ebay vendors as what they are selling is an off the shelf one size fits all drinking water system that is not designed for reef use and will cost you more in the long run to upgrade to reef quality

I'm leaning towards Melevs Rodi but i'll do a little lookiin around too.

Its a good unit if all you need is a very basic RO. Unfortunately thats probably not what you need. Bryan has other good units though that will suit your needs. His Optima series in one of the best.
