Can a metal shevles from Costco hold a tank?
I went to Costco and saw these shevles that can hold up to 1500 per shelf. I think there are built for heavy tools. I think of setting up a few tanks on different shevles anyone ever see this shelf Im talking about or have a idea on it?

I didn't get mine from Costco's but I do have a 30G on one that sounds the same. First off, replace the particle board that they come with and it will be even stronger. It's funny how a few drops of water on them, makes the particle board disintegrate, yet it is strong as long as it stays dry.

You're probably talking about "Gorilla racks" or whatever they are -- I'd do as mark says and replace the particle board with 3/4" plywood, and yes paint the entire thing. Even plywood starts to break down and warp with enough water on it...

I used 3/4 and didn't have to paint the rack.

Also at costco are the chrome wire rack shelving (like restaurants use.) These are extremely strong and easily could hold a tank. I had a 40g breeder and the thing was rock solid. I seem to recall them being rated to 1200 lbs and NSF certified (National Standards Foundation.) That being said, when they say 1200 lbs, they mean 1200 lbs solid.

I would advise against the restaurant shelving personally. They are strong, but I've had the little plastic clips fail on them before (I have 4 sets of them to store all of my boating gear) and that could be disastrous with an aquarium on it. They also bend over time -- the ones I store my shrimping lines on (two hose reels fully loaded with leaded 7/16" rope) sag in the middle...
