icky skimmer stuff?

i just cleaned my skimmer for the first time after setting it up about 5 days ago
i got the prizm deluxe, i know i read bad things about it but i have a feeling its working
its producing a nice dry foam, seems kinda clean with some dark icky bubbles. the cup was about half full so i decided to clean it, icky icky icky

omg ive never seen such filth lol the liquid was a black green and stunk like sewer

so does this mean the skimmer is working properly?
also when i do a water change and add clean saltwater i noticed it didnt produce as much foam, does this mean theres nothing to skim cause i did a water change? and it will go back to normal in a few days?

the tank is a new 55gallon, 45 lbs of live rock just went in last week, there are no inhabitants
the cycle isnt much, i think the rock was mostly cured, my amonia only got to 0.50 then it went down to 0.25...i tested yesterday and it seems lower close to zero

Sounds like the skimmer is doing it's job.
