reef octopus skimmer

I'm at the stage where it's time to upgrade to a better skimmer (going Berlin method). I've read tons of threads about asm vs euroreef, and found that they perform basically neck and neck, but asm cost substantually less. Just when I was about to purchase an asm I come acroos the Reef octopus which also uses needle wheel tech. Does anyone have any info on these, and how the perform compared to the other two prviously mentioned skimmers?

The new Euro-Reefs use different pumps than the ASM. According to the air draw specs, the Euro-Reefs should out perform the ASM and PCI Octopus. The ASM and Octopus perform about the same, although IMO the Octopus is built better. Also, you can get the Octopus as a recirculating model that can be used outside the pump. The ASMs can be made recirc., but because of leaks they should still be used in sump.

Bottom line is that both the ASM and Octopus are good value skimmers. The new Euro-Reef will probably do better, but they cost substantially more. IMO Euro has overpriced their skimmers. For just a little more, you could get a Deltec or H&S.
