is my algae yellow tang food

thinking of buying codium taylori, will my yellow tang eat it?

Hard to say for sure, it mimics a poisonous sponge which may keep him away. If he tries it and likes it, despite it's mimicry, he'll most likely eat it. Fish sometimes eat things in captivity they would otherwise leave alone in nature.
