air in water
I've been running my new 75 gallon tank for several days now with nothing in it but ro/di water and I'm getting excessive cloudiness to the water, presumably from air. The setup is 75 gallon tank, gravity drain 1" clear hose into a 10 gallon sump. I have drilled holes into the end of the drain hose and have the hose sitting about water level, so it is not submersed. The return pump is returning water into the tank through 3/4" hose. Any ideas why I'm getting cloudiness/air? If any additional explanation of system is needed, please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks! |

Is there anything dividing the sump tank into two areas? Do you have a skimmer inside the sump? What can happen is that the gravity drain is creating the air bubbles. And the ¾ inch return is pulling the bubbles into the tank.

The sump is basically one sterilte tub (16 gallons) a little over 1/2 filled. There is a protein skimmer in there also.
