Halides and algae bloom

Approx two weks ago I installed my halide luminaire and have now got a algae bloom problem particularly on the garvel bed. It is green and brown. Will this take much longer to subside as it really does look a bit of a mess?

It sounds like your tank is pretty new, less than 1 year. I think it will. If you don't have a lot of corals in your tank now reduce the lighting and make sure your skimmer works good.

I would also grow macroalgae such as cheato in the sump.

Regards,

Pat
