Ocean Runner 6500

Is anyone running this pump as a return? If so what do you think...

Also does anyone know the dimensions of this pump, cant seem to find them anywhere online. Just want to make sure it fits in the return area of my sump.

If you have to ask, it probably wont fit. Theyre friggen huge.

I have this pump, although I dont use it anymore. Off the top of my head, I would think it would fit in the 55 running parallel to the width. If you want a used one cheaper, let me know.

I have one. Its not too large... about the same as an eheim 126X pump, ok, maybe a little larger. Nothing too monster-sized though.

Here... check this out... the 6500 is a great pump, runs a little warm, but its not a good sump return. It simply doesnt have the pressure like say.. a Pan World 40PX.

Personally, I wouldnt run anything larger than a eheim 1250 as a return for a 40B though... just enough to skim the surface, then use a seperate pump on a closed loop or in tank powerheads for flow... much better idea (and your tank doesnt sound lke a toilet with 1000gph going through the overflow).

thanks for the response...i am gathering equipment for a 125 that I going to be setting up shortly and taking down the 40. I would like to have a pump that is submersable and can be in my sump (divided standard 55 gallon tank)

should I just use a mag 12 or 18?

Eheim 1260 would be a good pump fo that setup.

the only concern that I am having is that in the future I would like to split the return into a seperate frag tank and I was hoping to only have to run one pump for both tanks.

You could go with a 1262 or similar and a ball valve to cut it back until you add the frag tank.
