Turnover rate?
What is the recommended turnover rate? I will be keeping hammer, zoos, xenia, frogspawn, possibly an anemone. Thanks

20X minimum and 50X for more demanding SPS tanks. You would fall somewhere in the middle IMO

I would go with 30 times an hour like said above. I have a mixed tank and have about 40 and things are great.

I have a mixed reef with 19x the flow, I did try putting another powerhead in there but it was too much for the soft corals.

I have 30x turnover and my zoos, gsp, leathers, shrooms all do fine.

Right now I have a mag7 return pump and I want to add some more flow. I am going to go with the new Tunze nanostreams. The options I am considering is either 2 6025 nanos (660 gph each) or 1 6045 (1189 gph) and 1 6025. What are your opinions between those two? Also, when calculating turnover, do you include the display tank and sump volume as well? Thanks

Yes, minus headloss i believe. In your 65 you would probably be more happy with 2 6045's. I have 2 6025's in my 40. The 6055 should be coming the beginning of next year and are controllable. Pretty sweet.

My other question is: Will 30X turnover going to effect the way my fish swim? I don't want the flow to be so strong that my fish can swim normally. Thanks for the quick responses.

The Nanostreams have a very wide flow pattern. Not directional like maxi-jets. I think the fish actually prefer it.

Sounds good I think I'll place my order for them tomorrow. Drummereef, where did you get yours? Thanks a lot, you've been a big help.

With the corals you listed, I think it's safe to say your going to keep only reef type fish, so they are used to high currents and won't be bothered a bit. If you were only keeping soft corals and wanted to keep something along the lines of a lionfish, then yes- a strong current would probably blow him all over the place.

I got mine from www.thereefstop.com but I think they actually drop-shipped from www.premiumaquatics.com.
Go over to the Tunze forum http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/fo...?s=&forumid=92 There's a thread about the Nanostreams. I don't think the 6045's are available yet. The 6055's will be out sometime next year from what I remember reading. You might want to post a thread over there about flow to get some better ideas too.
